Jacek has an amazing collection of Judaica (Jewish ceremonial objects) which he uses to educate people about the Jewish past of Dukla. He has initiated a number of activities to this end. He discusses his ignorance of Jewish topics growing up and his grandmother, who played the role of a Shabbes Goy. Jacek was a tremendously good sport about waiting two hours for the videographers to set up.
Jacek jest w posiadaniu niezwykłej kolekcji żydowskiej sztuki sakralnej (zwanej Judaiką), po którą sięga, by edukować ludzi na temat żydowskiej przeszłości Dukli. Zainicjował w tym celu wiele przedsięwzięć. W wywiadzie wspomina swoją niewiedzę na tematy żydowskie w okresie dorastania oraz babcię, która była szabes-gojką. Jacek niezwykle pogodnie zniósł dwugodzinne oczekiwanie, by kamerzysta ustawił cały sprzęt.
Bio
Jacek Koszczan is a retired officer of the Border Guard. He is a guardian of Jewish cemeteries, synagogues and mass graves in Dukla. Jacek is the president of the Shtetl Dukla Association. In 2016 he was awarded the Polin Award. Jacek has organized Jewish festivals, conferences, exhibitions and lectures, and has written and directed films telling the story of the Jews of Dukla.
